~
centurywest
ENGINEERING CORPORATION
Memorandum
To: David Hartwig, Marion County Date: August 14, 1997
Judy Crockett, Ma1-ion County
Mike Staton, Staton Construction C.C.: Kathleen Thorpe, CWEC
Bill Annen, PE, CWEC
From: Geoff Brown Tom Gainer, PE, CWEC
Craig Le~~vis, Melvin Mark
Subject: Staton Weekly Demolition
° Meeting
The purpose of this memorandum is to memorialize the demolition meeting held on August 14, 1997
at the Courthouse Square site. The meeting was a weekly report by Staton on the overall progress and
status of the demolition project.
The meeting was attended by:
David Hartwig
Judy Crockett
Mike Staton
Kathleen Thorpe
Geoff Brown
Loni Richey
The following topics were discussed and are summarized as:
1. Demolition is p~ressing approximatelv 1 week behind schedule.
2. Demolition Rec~~ is proceeding below planned levels. To date, 78% of demolition waste
leaving the site has been recycled. The low percentage is due to the difficulty separating the waste
generated during demolition of the Senator. The good news is that the remaining demolition work
(primarily removal of paving and asphalt) will generate a large amount of fully recyclable waste.
By completion of the demolition phase, percentages should be back up at or above 90%.
All the timbers are off the site. A company called Earthwood Homes was the highest bidder on the
batch of large timbers, with a bid of $11,154. The next highest bidder was Deluth Timber at
$10,750; and then Timber Recycler at $9,600. Timber Recycler purchased the batch of smaller
timbers for the cost of removing and transporting them.
Kathleen asked Mike for copies of all dump and recycling receipts. Mike said he would provide
them at the conclusion of the project.
L ~ A D I N G T H R O U G H E F F E C T I V E S O L U T I C N S
1593 Clay Street NE Salem, Oregon 97301 Phone: (503) 540-0995 FAX: (503) 589-1657
